Tips For Getting Vitamin C

Vitamin C is among the most important vitamins for your body, and it is one of the most essential elements for keeping you healthy. Not only does vitamin C act as an antioxidant, but it also boosts your immune system and helps to fight off diseases. But many people fail to get the proper amount of vitamin C each day, even though vitamin C is relatively easy to get, and even though it is so important! It will make it much easier for you to avoid this mistake yourself - and to consequently remain healthy - once you understand the places where you can easily get vitamin C.

The best place to get vitamin C, as you might very well know, is in oranges or orange juice. In fact, you can get 180% of your recommended daily dosage of vitamin C in a single cup of orange juice - that's right, just one single cup! Not only that, but - if you choose to drink all-natural, fresh-squeezed orange juice - you will be able to also pump your body full of other essential elements.

You can also get your vitamin C from vitamin C tablets, if you do not care for orange juice or if you simply do not want to buy orange juice all the time. These are usually relatively inexpensive, and even though most of them do not taste great, they will get you all the vitamin C you need! You can also try multivitamins, instead of vitamin C tablets, as these will get you a lot more than just vitamin C. In fact, one multivitamin can be enough to get you all of the vitamins that you will need for the day - every single day!

If you are looking for some different fruits that will get you your intake of vitamin C, do a bit of research, as you will likely find that some of your favorites make the top of the list! Among the fruits that are high in vitamin C are kiwi, papaya, guava, grapefruit, and mango! Once you start to pay attention to the easy ways by which to get vitamin C into your body, you can start to lead a much healthier lifestyle.

Important Tips For Choosing the Right Health Drinks

Have you decided to feed your body with health drinks instead of sugary sodas? Just because a beverage is labeled as a health drink doesn't mean it's the best drink for your situation. The following tips will help you make good decisions as you choose health drinks.

There are many varieties of health drinks on the market, each with different purposes. Do you want to drink a health drink in place of a meal? Recovering from a hard workout? Are you looking for a health drink that will help you hydrate because of excessive exercise or extreme weather? Or were you simply thirsty? You always want to check health drink labels to make sure they really are all natural and made from good fruits and veggies, but you'll also want to match needs and ingredients as follows.

If you need a meal replacement, you'll need to consider calories first.

This is especially important if you are following a diet with restricted calories. The meal replacement health drink should also be low sugar and high protein. It should also contain some fat, and if you're lucky, some fiber (although you can always add in some metamucil or eat a Benefiber tablet). Fat, protein, and fiber will help you feel full; high sugar drinks won’t cut it as a meal.

If you've just pushed your muscles to fatigue, you'll need a recovery drink high in protein. You can buy prepared recovery drinks or make your own with protein powder.

If you've just finished a long run in the sun or an intense soccer game, you need electrolytes, water, and sugar.

If you are thirsty, that's all, buy a low-calorie, natural, low sugar beverage. You want to leave room in your diet for calories you get to eat, rather than drinking all your calories.

Experiment with various health drinks until you find the ones that best meet your needs.

How To Exercise In A Healthy Manner

A lot of people have a desire to stay in shape, and to keep their body healthy, through regular exercise, but one thing a lot of people neglect to realize is the fact that - while working out in a healthy manner is certainly beneficial for your body - it can be bad for your body if you work out incorrectly, and for this reason it is important to make sure you know how to exercise in a healthy manner.

Doing cardio work is one of the core components of working out, as this will help to keep your body in shape and will go a long way in helping you lose that weight you are hoping to lose; when it comes to cardio workouts, however, you will want to make sure you are taking them lightly, as doing too much cardio - in too intense a manner - can be bad for both your heart and your joints!

Another area where you will need to be careful is in weight lifting, as it is very easy to hurt your back when you are lifting free weights; before you start lifting, make sure you gain a thorough understanding of all the things you need to know in order to lift properly - building strength while protecting your back in the process.

And finally, if you are doing your lifting on a weight machine, realize that these machines can put you in a position where you can easily end up straining muscles if you are not careful; familiarize yourself with any weight machine before using it, and this will help you to avoid the injuries that could so easily ruin your weight lifting experience.

When you make sure to keep each of these things in mind, you will be able to work out to get your body in shape and to sculpt it until it looks the way you want it to look - without being stuck dealing with all the awful side effects so many others deal with when it comes to exercise!

Seven Day Homemade Detox Program

Mind is All
You want to detox, but you don’t want to buy an over-the-counter detox or cleanse kit. This natural detox plan is easy and gradual, making it easy to stick to. It’s best to follow this detox plan over the course of a week.

On Monday and Tuesday, you'll want to begin your cleanse by eliminating sugar and fats from your meal plan. You'll also begin your period of abstaining from alcohol on Monday, continuing this until the following Monday. Eliminate or reduce caffeine use, too.

Wednesday and Thursday – Eliminate processed foods, meat, and dairy from your diet. Try to drink at least 50% more water than you usually do.

You'll take the final plunge on the last three days of the detox plan as you commit to an organic, raw fruit and veggie diet plan for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Your hardcore, three-day detox plan will look like the following: Drink water, senna tea, fasting support tea, and Master Cleanse lemonade (lemon juice, water, cayenne pepper, and pure maple syrup, to taste) throughout all three days.

Be sure to eat something every couple of hours. You’ll want to keep portions small, but alternate between raw fruit and raw vegetables. Be sure to wash the produce well to remove pesticides.

Faciliate bowel movements. It's important to let your body's urges guide you; don't hold anything in longer than is neccessary.

When detoxing, you'll want to plan for enough downtime to catch up on sleep. Your body needs to put its energy to cleansing and renewing.

Get a massage. Massage therapy helps your body release toxins. Ask for a full-body Swedish or deep-muscle massage. When you go in for the massage, tell the therapist you are detoxing, and be sure to hydrate well.

Engage in mild exercise. You may want to walk, hike, or practice yoga, all of which will work up a cleansing sweat.

Cleanse your biggest organ, your skin. Enjoy lengthy showers, soaping up with all-natural products. Use the body brush on dry skin, exfoliating and stimulating your pores to release even more toxins.

On Monday, you’ll want to return to your normal habits slowly. After feeling so clean and refreshed, you may decide to change some of your ways permanently.

Tips For Keeping Up Your Energy During A Long Hike

On top of being a great way to exercise, hiking is also a great way for you to get outside and enjoy nature (which, of course, has many additional health benefits, such as Vitamin D from the sun, and a boost to your immune system from increased relaxation and decreased stress), but if you fail to keep up your energy during a long hike, hiking can have adverse effects as well, as it can cause you to become fatigued, and can even cause you to become sick as you tire your body!

You will want to make sure you are allowing yourself to take frequent breaks to rest when hiking (even when you do not necessarily feel tired); by taking these breaks - and by making sure you are snacking and drinking plenty of water when you take these breaks - you will be able to put your body in a position where it will keep up its energy, and where you are able to continue hiking for as long as you want.

It is also important that you know how to hike properly during the hike itself; many people make the mistake of thinking hiking is nothing more than walking, and because of this, they vary their pace too much or simply move too fast, and this causes their body to get tired before their brain has a chance to realize it; move at a steady pace when you are hiking, and try to maintain this pace throughout the duration of your trek.

And if you want to prevent yourself from getting tired during a hike, making sure you have the right equipment - and that you are wearing this equipment properly - will be of the utmost importance; a good pair of hiking shoes (that fit snugly and are comfortable) is a must, and if you are wearing a pack when you hike, you will want to make sure the weight is distributed properly so that you do not wear out your body as you go along.

You will be ready to head out for a hike as you keep these tips in mind, and will be able to enjoy all the benefits that come from a day of hiking - without enduring any of the problems that can come as a result of conducting your hike incorrectly!

Ten Spring Activities To Get Your Kids Active

Mind is All

Are you aware of how serious of a problem childhood obesity is here in America? American kids are spending way too much time snacking and playing or watching electronics. Get your child away from the TV and outside, doing something that challenges his body and mind. The following list of ten activities will give you a point of reference as you come up with ways to get your child active.

Register your kid for an organized sport. Teach your child how to hit a tennis ball. Find a community volleyball team. Sign up for a race with your child and start running together. Anything that gets your child up and moving counts.

Organize a neighborhood scavenger hunt. Talk ahead of time with neighbors and come up with a list of things all over the area the kids have to find.

Teach your child to walk a dog. If you don't have a dog, have your neighbor ask your child to please walk their dog for them, as a favor.

Set up a hide and seek game - outside. Younger teens may think it's fun to try flashlight tag after dusk.

Invest in inexpensive but fun family outdoor games, like horse shoes or frisbee. Set up the game and invite the cousins over.

Set up a jump rope competition. Buy a couple different types of jump ropes so you can have chinese jump ropes, long jump ropes, and individual jump ropes. Offer rewards for the best jumpers, things like bubbles or bouncy balls.

Sign your child up for active summer camps. Check out your community website or paper for inexpensive, fun programs.

Tell your child it's his or her turn to be responsible for mowing the lawn. If your child is ten or older, he or she should be able to do it.

Challenge the kids to a Twister competition. Time the kids to see who can last the longest.

Go for a walk with your child. Or try going for a long bike ride around the neighborhood. Or put up a basket ball hoop and start teaching him or her how to shoot. If you join your kids, they'll enjoy exercise more. Set a good example and watch the kids get into it too!

Will You Lose Weight if You Go Vegetarian?

image

Have you considered going vegetarian because of the many popular weight loss books that claim going vegetarian will ensure weight loss? Is there any truth to such claims?

Most people imagine vegetarians eating only super-healthy, low-calorie meals consisting of lots of fresh, organic produce. The truth is, going vegetarian only means not eating meat products, which still leaves you vulnerable to weight-gaining eating habits. You may think going vegan will solve the problem, but that just means you don't eat meat, eggs, or dairy, which still leaves room for cake, cookies, and candy.

Most likely you're problem isn't that you eat too many calories from meat. It's true that people who consume large quantities of fruit, vegetables, and whole grains are healthier than those who follow typical American diets, but going vegetarian doesn't really mean you'll do that. In fact, many well-intentioned “vegetarians” are actually “carbotarians”, meaning they may not eat meat, but they live on muffins, bagels, high sugar cereal, and other not-so-good-for-you foods.

In fact, protein is good for weight loss and overall satiation. Protein consumption supports muscle and helps stave off cravings. Not that you can’t get enough protein as a vegetarian; in fact many vegetarians get plenty of protein through beans, legumes, and soy products. If you're just thinking about weight loss, you probably shouldn't blame meat for your troubles (unless you regularly eat huge fatty steaks).

However, you’d do well to eat more vegetables and fruit than the average American, that’s undeniable. The health benefits that come from a diet packed with fruit and vegetables are astounding, and yet most Americans forego fresh produce in favor of sweets and unhealthy menu choices. They are usually lower in calories than other food choices, and calorie control combined with exercise is the safest bet for weight loss.

You want to shed those unwanted pounds? You won't have to convert to being a vegetarian to see weight loss results. Just increase your intake of fresh fruit and vegetables, and forego the processed foods and high calorie meats. You'll lose weight if you eat healthfully and exercise regularly.
