How To Help Prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (commonly called "SIDS"), is one of the worst tragedies that can befall a parent, and it is made all the worse by the fact that it often comes with no explanation. But while there are many factors outside of one's control that can cause SIDS to occur, there are also many things that elevate the risk of SIDS. You will be able to avoid these things when you know what they are, and in this way, you will decrease the risk your baby is at of SIDS. In addition to being bad for your baby's health down the road, it can actually be fatal to your baby in the short term if you smoke, drink, or take drugs while pregnant. Studies have found that babies are at a much higher risk of SIDS when their mothers smoked, drank, or did drugs while pregnant. Of course, for your own health - and for the health of those around you - your best bet would be to cut these things out of your life altogether. But even if you do not do so, you need to cut these out of your life while you are pregnant. Your baby's risk of SIDS not only escalates with your own smoking, but it also escalates when those around you smoke. Babies have been shown to be at a much higher risk of SIDS when they have been exposed to smoke following birth. On top of these specific areas that pertain to smoking, drinking, and drug usage, there are some specific things you can do yourself to lessen the risk of your baby falling prey to SIDS. One thing you should do is make sure you have optimal prenatal care, as poor prenatal care has been shown to be a contributing factor to SIDS. Also, stomach sleeping and overheating are two more contributing factors that can cause SIDS to occur, and both are easily avoidable. Make sure you have not bundled your baby in excessive sleepwear and bedding, and do what you can to make sure your baby is not sleeping on its stomach. While SIDS is still largely a mystery, there are certain things you can do to lessen the risk of this tragedy occurring in your own family; know what these things are, and take care of them yourself.
An Easy Way to Prevent Concussions During Athletic Activities
Mind is AllOne of the biggest issues in sports today are concussions. Almost every sport that is played has issues with concussions. Players of high contact sports, like football and hockey, are at the highest risk. The constant high speed contact that occurs means that body parts are absorbing tremendous amounts of force. Traditionally low contact sports are experiencing serious concussions as well. In baseball a concussion was suffered by Justin Morneau when he slid into a players knee at second base during a game. There aren't many injuries more serious than concussions. It results from the brain being rattled around inside of someone’s skull. When the injury initially occurs it is not uncommon to see the injured lose their consciousness. After the initial injury occurs the symptoms can become even more serious. The feeling of being stuck in a fog is often the way those who suffer from concussions describe it. They cannot do much more than lay in their home since any type of exertion is hard to tolerate. There is very little known about concussions even though it is such a big problem. During athletic activity though there are a few ways to lower the risk of this injury, one of which is by wearing a mouth guard. A gel strapless mouth guard that is designed to absorb a majority of impact was designed by the company Shock Doctor. A mouth guard can help you emerge from an impact relatively unhurt instead of suffering a concussion during it. A breathing channel is also included in the mouth guard to help you breathe normally while playing. Shock Doctor Adult Gel Max Strapless Mouthguard. The absence of a mouth guard while playing sports is a very high risk habit to get into. The need to be used if you want to make sure that many injuries to your head, including concussions, are prevented if possible. Extensive research was used and dissected in order for Shock Doctor to design a mouth guard that was highly efficient at preventing a concussion. If you want to match the uniform you are wearing they are even available in many colors.

Tips For Stopping A Flesh Wound From Bleeding
Although the idea of needing to know how to stop a flesh wound from bleeding might not seem like something you really need to know (until it happens, that is!), you never know when this information will come in handy, and it is certainly better to know what to do before the situation arises than to scramble once you are in the situation! Especially if you have children, it is important that you know how to stop a flesh wound from bleeding in order to prevent infection and scarring. You should make sure your hands are absolutely clean before you do anything at all with an open wound, as you will be working with your hands and will not want to get dirt or germs into the open cut. After you have washed your hands, the main thing you need to do is stop the bleeding; use sterile gauze (or something similar) to stopper the wound, and then keep pressure applied to the wound while also keeping the area of the wound raised so that it is held above the level of the heart.
If the bleeding persists, you can apply an ice pack to the area, as this should slow the bleeding further; it can take up to ten or fifteen minutes for the bleeding to stop completely, so be patient - as long as the situation is continuing to improve, you have no reason to be worried! Once you have gotten the bleeding to stop (either completely or close to completely), you should clean out the cut with antibacterial soap, and then you should apply an antibacterial cream to a bandage and apply the bandage to the wound. By following these simple steps, you should have no problems solving most flesh wounds, but if you have followed these steps and the situation has not improved, you can deem it to be a medical emergency, and you should immediately get in touch with an emergency medical technician to assist you.
Does It Matter What Time Of Day I Drink My Coffee?
Mind is AllThere are plenty of different reasons why different people drink coffee - some because they simply like the taste, some because they find it to be relaxing, and some because it is simply a great way to get together with friends - but regardless of the stated reason for one's coffee consumption, coffee drinking still comes down to "staying awake" for most people. Because coffee is consumed in order to keep people awake (or - even for those who do not drink coffee to stay awake - it still has this effect), it is useful to know when is the best time of day for drinking coffee. There are a lot of people who claim that coffee does not affect them at all, and so they will drink it shortly before bed; if this is the case for you, however, you should realize that coffee still has an effect on your body, even if you are able to fall asleep after drinking it. While you might go to sleep thinking that you are sleeping just fine throughout the night, chances are, the caffeine is preventing your body throughout the night from getting the rest that it truly needs. A lot of people also drink coffee first thing in the morning, in order to "help them wake up," but when you drink coffee first thing in the morning, you put your body in a position where it becomes unable to wake up fully without coffee, which handicaps you for the rest of the day. The best approach for coffee drinking is to drink it right around the middle of the day; even though this might leave you feeling more tired in the morning (that is, until your body gets used to this new routine), your body will be able to wake itself up. And this cup of coffee in the middle of the day will also provide your body and mind with a nice kick of energy - something that will help to carry you through the afternoon, and that will wear off at night, just in time for you to go to sleep for the night!

How To Cure A Sunburn
When you are going into the sun, you probably make the effort to take proper precautions to prevent sunburns from occurring, but the simple truth is, most people will get sunburned from time to time even with the proper precautions taken; for this reason, it will be very valuable for you to know the things you can do in order to cure a sunburn when one occurs. As you may already know, the aloe vera plant is one of the best ways to cure a sunburn, and even though simply buying an aloe vera plant is your best bet for using aloe vera (after all, they do not cost much money), it is also possible to purchase an assortment of creams and ointments that have an aloe vera base; as soon as you notice your sunburn, begin applying the aloe vera or the cream, and apply it several times a day until the sunburn is no longer a problem. Of course, just because the aloe vera plant works great for healing a sunburn quickly does not necessarily mean it is the right solution for all people, as many people find that aloe vera tends to irritate their skin; if you have found that this is the case for you, a couple things you can try out is an oatmeal mask or flaxseed oil, as either of these can be applied frequently and liberally, and each will help to minimize the pain of the sunburn while also helping it to heal more quickly. Staying away from soap and water as much as you can is another thing that will help when you have a sunburn, as soap and water can be abrasive to the skin; of course, you should also avoid going into the sun as much as you can, as your sunburn will only become worse if you continue exposing it to the sun - even if you are doing things to help this sunburn heal. You should always try to remember to put on sunscreen before going into the sun, as this will keep your skin protected in both the short-term and the long-term, but if you forget sunscreen - or if you get burned in spite of sunscreen - keep these methods in mind, and use them to help yourself heal more quickly!
Tips On Healthy Skin
Mind is AllThe health of their skin, is a topic most women are concerned about. They are happy to apply chemicals to help moisturize, peal, and shrink pores. Which can be fine and good, however most women miss the tips that can really help to get their skin healthy. By following these simple tips you can really increase the health of your skin. Drinking more water is one of the easiest things to do. Keeping your skin hydrated is one of the best things you can do for it. Carry a water bottle around with you. There is a bit of argument as to how much water is good to drink a day. Some people say eight glasses (approximately 64 ounces), while other people say you take your body weight (for example 150 pounds) and swap the word pound with ounces and divide that number by two will give you the number of ounces to drink ( 150 oz divided by 2 is 75 ounces). It doesn't matter which one you chose, the big thing is to drink more water. To keep your skin looking healthy on the outside you need to keep hydrated on the inside. Wearing a good 30 SPF sunscreen is another good tip for your skin. The healthy tan days are coming to an end, as data shows the damage the sun is causing to skin and the premature aging. The key to dealing with this is to use a good sunscreen of spf 15 or greater. This also has the benefit of helping to reduce the chances of melanoma, a deadly disease. Tip Three involves eating correctly. More research is supporting this all the time. The mainstream is starting to get introduced to this data in books like Feed Your Skin Starve Your Wrinkles . By eating foods high in natural oils such as nuts, and antioxidant rich foods such as fruits and vegetables you ultimately slow down the aging in your body and this clearly includes your skin. Just remember that you need to start form the base if you really want healthy skin. None of these tips are hard to include into your routine.

Eating Food That Is Healthy For Your Teeth
It is not difficult to take good care of your teeth - the most important things for you to do is to brush and floss a couple times each day - but many people still neglect to do these simple things, and it ends up costing them (in money and trouble!) in the long run! If you have enough foresight to take care of your teeth the way you should, it is likely that you are always keeping an eye out for any new things you can do to make sure you are keeping your teeth healthy and in good shape. One of the best ways to keep your teeth in great shape is to make sure you are eating foods that are good for your teeth.
Raw fruits and vegetables: Not only are raw fruits and veggies great for your body, but they are also great for your teeth, as they can prevent the build-up of tartar on your teeth and can also help to remove plaque. Calcium-rich foods: Such calcium-rich foods as yogurt and cheese help to keep your teeth strong and healthy, and cheese even neutralizes the acids that can cause tooth decay and helps your teeth to rebuild enamel! Dark green leafy vegetables: Even though you might not be a big fan of the taste of broccoli or spinach, these and other dark green leafy vegetables will help to prevent inflammation in your gums as they strengthen your gum tissue.
Sugar: Do not get excited reading the word "sugar" - thinking that it means you should eat sugar; instead, it means that you need to be aware of the fact that sugar is one of the biggest contributing factors to an unhealthy mouth, and you need to make sure you brush your teeth immediately if you do put some sugar through your mouth! When you keep all these things in mind, you can actually keep your teeth healthy through more ways than just brushing and flossing, ensuring that your teeth remain strong and healthy for a long time!
