Finding An Outdoor Hobby To Stay Active
A lot of people complain about the fact that they feel overweight and cannot seem to change this, but they do nothing to even try to change it. Of course, one of the big reasons why a lot of these people do nothing to lose weight is because they think of exercise as a lot of "work." Actually, exercising can be plenty of fun, if you just find something you enjoy doing and begin to engage in it regularly. In this way, you will be able to lose weight and get in shape by participating in a "hobby" you enjoy instead of exercising solely to lose weight. Walking is one of the most basic of these "hobbies"; although walking can seem like "work" at first, it can actually be quite relaxing. You will even get Vitamin D - which is one of the most important vitamins for our bodies - if you are able to walk while the sun is out. Furthermore, the cardiovascular activity in a low-impact manner can keep your heart in good shape while also helping you relax at the same time.
Swimming is another "hobby" that many people enjoy, and it can be done in your own pool, in a public pool, or even in a pool at a gym. Swimming is among the best full-body workouts, and it can also be extremely enjoyable! Bicycling is a great way to see the world, and it can seem as though you are not exercising at all when you bicycle! This can be an extremely fun and enjoyable way to get outdoors and to keep your entire body in great shape. Try your hand at hiking if you are wanting to combine the exploration of bicycling with the ease of walking. Most rural areas and even most urban areas have plenty of places that are great for hiking, and this easy activity will allow you to enjoy yourself while also staying in shape! If you want to lose weight and stay in shape, you do not necessarily need to hit the gym and run several miles each day; you simply have to find an outdoor hobby you enjoy, and then you need to stick to it!
Getting In Shape By Swimming
Mind is AllSwimming is at the top of the list of "best workouts you can give your body," as it is a way for you to work out your whole body at once in a manner that does not have a negative impact on your bones, muscles, or joints, and if you have a swimming pool, it is also an easy workout for you to take up. If you do not have your own pool, of course, it can be a little more difficult to get in your swimming workout, but consider joining a gym that has a pool, or see if your local YMCA has a pool that you will be able to use. If you want to use swimming to help you get in shape, one of the big keys will be that you stay consistent - which is why it will be helpful if you have a pool of your own; rather than swimming "a few days a week," you should make an effort to swim at least six days each week, as this will enable you to swim a reasonable amount instead of forcing you to try to "swim a whole bunch at once." Focus on having a swimming motion that is smooth and effortless, as this will allow your body to naturally work itself out in the water, instead of forcing your body to deal with unnecessary stress and tension. You should also vary the swimming strokes you are using; although swimming is a total body workout, you will be able to emphasize different muscles when you do different types of strokes, and this will go a long way in increasing the effectiveness of your swimming workout. You will be able to swim every day in your backyard if you have a pool of your own (while also getting the vitamin D your body so badly needs), but even if you do not have your own pool, you should have no problem finding access to one, and you will be able to engage in a total body workout that is fun and effective while still being low-impact!

Three Things That May Not Be As Healthy For You As You Think
There are certainly plenty of people who are unhealthy simply because they do not feel like taking the energy or the time to educate themselves and make good decisions for their health, but for every person like this, there are also several people who are unhealthy simply because they do not know exactly what they should be doing in order to keep their body more healthy. Each and every day brings a whole list of misconceptions our way - where we think for all the world we are doing something healthy, when really we are not - and if you start to understand what some of these misunderstandings are, you will be better able to avoid them yourself! There are conflicting reports about whether or not coffee is bad for the body, and because of this, lots of people end up replacing their coffee with energy drinks - but actually, coffee is perfectly fine to drink as long as you are not putting sugar and cream in it, whereas energy drinks, on the other hand, are not very healthy for you at all (which means you would be much better to drink coffee and stay away from energy drinks!). In addition to drinking energy drinks to stay awake, a lot of people go running to stay healthy, but while there are certainly a lot of positives to going jogging, there are also a lot of negatives - most especially the fact that running is horrible for your back and your knees, and can cause serious long-term damage. And when it comes to major misconceptions, one of the biggest ones of all is the value of sleep; of course, sleep is important, but many people have been led to believe that there is a certain optimal amount of sleep each person should try to get, when the truth is that each person's body is different, and in order to stay healthiest, you will need to figure out how much sleep you operate optimally at, and then to target this amount of sleep. And while some people hold onto beliefs that make these points difficult to grasp, it is important for you to realize that a lot of these misconceptions are like this, and you will be in much better shape to avoid these misconceptions yourself once you get ahold of this fact!
Eating A Healthier Breakfast
Mind is AllYou have likely heard it said that the most important meal of the day is breakfast, and there are two reasons why this is true: Firstly, it is true because, when it comes time for breakfast, you have been sleeping all night and will literally be "breaking a fast"; Secondly, it is true because your breakfast foods will be the foods you are starting your day with! While many people are "too busy" to eat breakfast (which is certainly a bad thing), many others claim to be "too busy" for a healthy breakfast (which is almost as bad!). No matter how busy you are, you should not start your day eating something like a doughnut or a pastry; because you have not eaten in a while, your body will store the fat from these foods, and furthermore, these foods provide you with nothing but empty calories! A great way to start your day, as far as food goes, is by eating oats, as oats give you energy and are also good for your body; oatmeal is, of course, a great way to get oats at the start of the day, but if you do not like oatmeal, try eating an oat bar or a bowl of cereal.
Eating yogurt is another great way to start your day; rather than purchasing sugar-filled yogurt that is really nothing more than a dessert, however, take the time to shop for some organic yogurt that is actually healthy, as this will be a great way for you to start the morning! Of course, fruit is a tremendous choice for breakfast, and like most of these other foods, fruit is easy to bring with you on the road - which means you can eat it even if you are "too busy" to make yourself breakfast! Once you start making an effort to get some of these foods into your body to kick off each morning, you will feel a big difference in your energy throughout the day, and your body will start to be much healthier than it had been before!

Three Benefits Of Oatmeal
When you are making an effort to eat healthy foods, you will get to a point where you are no longer looking at foods simply from the standpoint of how they taste, but also from the standpoint of how they make your body feel, and how good they are for your body! Oatmeal is one of the foods that you tend to hear about frequently when it comes to "foods that are good for you" – and in addition to all the benefits of oatmeal, it can also be a delicious way to start out your day, as long as you make it the right way. A lot of people use coffee or energy drinks in order to help their mind and body wake up at the start of the day, but it is much better for your body when you indulge in foods that give you natural energy; oat-based foods are some of the best things you can find for gaining natural energy, and there is no better “oat-based food” than oatmeal itself! Your body has both good cholesterol and bad cholesterol, and while you certainly want to boost your body’s good cholesterol, keeping the bad cholesterol under control will also be important, as bad cholesterol can clog your arteries and put unnecessary strain on your heart – and with a bowl of oatmeal at the start of each morning, keeping your bad cholesterol under control will be much easier for you to do. And finally, oatmeal is not going to break your bank account; with oatmeal, you will be able to enjoy a healthy breakfast every morning without spending more than a couple dollars – and in the long run, the health benefits of oatmeal will help you save even more money than this! In your tireless efforts to always find food that is tasty, healthy, and inexpensive, there are very few that can match oatmeal, and once you begin to incorporate this as part of your daily routine, you will certainly see tremendous results!

Looking At Delicious Gluten-Free Breakfasts, Lunches, and Dinners
These days, plenty of people are going gluten-free, either because they have discovered that they have a gluten allergy (whether a significant one or a slight one), or because they simply have found that they actually feel a whole lot better when they avoid gluten, but if you have decided to go on a gluten-free eating plan yourself, you may have realized that one problem you will face with this new approach to eating is that it can sometimes be difficult to figure out exactly what you can eat for your meals! Breakfast: The toughest one to deal with at first can be breakfast, as many people are used to eating cereal or toast or a bagel for breakfast - all of which have gluten - but really, breakfast is quite easy to do on a gluten-free diet: you can make a smoothie if you have enough time in the morning, or you can make eggs and meat if you want something with more substance, and if you are needing to grab something on the go you can easily make it through the morning with some fruit or some yogurt. Lunch: Lunch can be a little bit harder to deal with than breakfast, as many people are used to having a sandwich for lunch; one alternative to consider is a salad - and you can even load up your salad with meat, which will make it more like the sandwich you used to eat - or, you can still have a sandwich as long as you pick up some gluten-free bread on which you can make it! Dinner: Dinner should actually be the easiest meal of all when you are trying to go without gluten; while many households are used to making pasta dishes - or other dishes that include gluten - it is quite easy (and quite delicious!) to replace these gluten bases with a base of vegetables; furthermore, if you are a big fan of pasta dishes for dinner, you can prepare a meal using gluten-free pasta, which will give you the old recipes you are used to enjoying, without the gluten you are trying to avoid.
A good gluten-free cookbook can help you to truly figure out exactly what you are doing with this gluten-free eating, but until you pick out one you want to use, you can keep these tips in mind to help you on your way!
Tips For Keeping Your Body Active
Mind is AllIn your quest to keep your body healthy, one thing you will want to look to do is keep your body active, as this will go a long way in ensuring that you stay in good shape and that you are able to ward off sickness; of course, most people think of "exercise" when they think of keeping their body active, but this is not the only way by which you can go about making sure you stay healthy by staying active. Now, you should realize that exercise is definitely one of the approaches you can take in order to keep yourself active, but one thing you will want to do is make sure you understand the right ways to work out and the wrong ways to work out; a lot of people tend to think that "more is better" when it comes to working out, bur realize that you can actually work out too much - which will fatigue your body, and will give you cravings for foods you do not want to be putting inside your body - and it is often better to do light workouts (or even just to do nothing more than stretch on some days!) than to push yourself too hard. Finding an outdoor hobby that you enjoy, and engaging in it regularly, is another great way to stay active outside of the rigors of "exercise"; this can be something as simple as golf or even disc golf, or can be something such as rock climbing or mountain biking - as long as you are getting outside, moving around, and giving your body some fresh air and sunlight, you will reap the benefits that come along with whatever this activity is. And of course, you should make sure that you are not allowing yourself to get into the habit of making your "activity" too regimented, as your body does not operate on a weekly or daily schedule, and neither should you when it comes to taking care of your body. Instead of setting aside certain times of the day during which you try to do your workouts, get in the habit of moving around frequently at a slow pace (which can be as simple as walking!), and this will go a long way in keeping your body active, and in helping your body to be as healthy as you want it to be.

Tips For Preventing Blisters While Hiking
When you go hiking, your plan is likely to be walking a great distance - enjoying nature and enjoying the opportunity to get a bit of exercise. But if you end up developing a blister on your foot, you can be in a very tough position, as you might be several miles from your car without any way to get back to it except to walk - on that painful blister! When you go hiking, you will want to make sure you know how to prevent blisters so that you do not have to deal with them at all! Dr Scholls blister defense kit! The thing most likely to cause you to get blisters is wearing shoes that are not broken in; if you have a new pair of hiking shoes, it can take 10 or 12 hikes to get the shoes broken in, but you will not want 10 or 12 instances of blistered feet in order to allow this to happen! If you want to break in your hiking shoes before you hit the trail, you can do so by walking around your house in them after work - wearing the same socks you would wear with them while hiking as well! If you know where you tend to get blisters on your foot, you can also protect yourself by wrapping that area (as well as the areas around it) in athletic tape before you slip into the socks and shoes you will be wearing for the hike. And even if you do not wrap your foot before you head out - and if you start to develop a blister during your hike - you can protect yourself from the blister worsening by wrapping the problem area, or by taking the time to soak the foot in cold water and then to let the foot get some air. Finally, you should keep baby powder in your pack, and if you are going on a multi-day hike, you should put baby powder in your socks before you put them on your feet; when you do this, you will protect your feet from getting blistered as you hike throughout the day.
Preventing Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
Mind is AllSudden Infant Death Syndrome (commonly called "SIDS"), is one of the worst tragedies that can befall a parent, and it is made all the worse by the fact that it often comes with no explanation. But while many factors are outside of one's control, in keeping SIDS away, there are also a number of things that elevate the risk of SIDS occurring. If you know what these things are, you will be able to avoid them yourself, and will decrease the risk your baby is at of SIDS. In addition to being bad for your baby's health down the road, it can actually be fatal to your baby in the short term if you smoke, drink, or take drugs while pregnant. Studies have found that babies are at a much higher risk of SIDS when their mothers smoked, drank, or did drugs while pregnant. Of course, for your own health - and for the health of those around you - your best bet would be to cut these things out of your life altogether. But even if you choose not to cut these things out altogether, it is vital that you cut them out while you are pregnant. Your baby's risk of SIDS not only escalates with your own smoking, but it also escalates when those around you smoke. Babies have been shown to be at a much higher risk of SIDS when they have been exposed to smoke following birth. There are a few specific things you can do yourself - in addition to the areas of smoking, drinking, and the use of drugs - that can keep your baby from being at high risk of SIDS. As poor prenatal care has been shown to be a contributing factor to SIDS, you should make sure you have optimal prenatal care. Also, stomach sleeping and overheating are two more contributing factors that can cause SIDS to occur, and both are easily avoidable. Make sure that your baby is not sleeping on its stomach, and make sure that your baby is not bundled in excessive sleepwear and bedding. Although SIDS is still largely a mystery, there are some things you can do to lessen the risk of this tragedy occurring; pay attention to these, and make sure you take care of them yourself.

Intro to Clipping In
Bicycling season is right around the corner. Soon it will be time to get back out on your bike and put on some miles. Have you thought about some simple adjustments you can make to your bike? Upgrading your pedals can be one of the best and easiest options, which can make a huge difference. If you are still riding with the original pedals that came with your bike you may want to consider some other options!
Many people have enjoyed switching to a type of pedal where you can connect your foot to your pedal full time. You have two main forms you can choose from, a clip less or a toe clip pedal. Why switch and what are the advantages? The biggest gain is in power transfered when pedaling. Right now if you are not attached to your pedals you are only able to push down on the petal to propel the bike. If you are clipped on you can use both a downward push and an upward pull on the backside. This makes you more efficient. There are two different types of ways to get you locked onto your bike. The first is a to clip your foot into a basket. This is commonly called a toe clip. These are not the preferred method of clipping in for professionals but there are many people who like to start here because they don’t always have to be clipped in to use them. The pedal can easily be turned upside down and used as a traditional pedal.
The second type of pedals are called clipless, though a bit of a misnomer since you are actually locked onto your bike. These are the pedals of choice for your more serious rider. These types of pedals require specific shoes that allow you to attach your shoe to the pedal. There are two basic types of clipless setups. PD's which are commonly used on mountain bikes, and SPDs used frequently on road bikes. SPDs have a wide pedal and use stiff shoes unlike the PD.
Before switching your pedals, it might be wise to ask to try out a pair or try with your bike on a trainer first. This will allow you to get a sense of how to get in and out of your new pedals efficiently so you don’t crash. It takes a bit of practice to remember to detach your feet from the bike before coming to a full stop.
How To Have A Healthy Heart
Mind is AllWhen you were a kid, you probably had a teacher who told you to clench your fist and look at it. When you looked at it, they told you, "This is the size your heart is." You could do this same exercise right now, but even though you might still be surprised to find how small your heart is, you surely will not be surprised to know how important it is. The body cannot function without blood, and without the heart, the body receives no blood. Because of this, a healthy heart is one of the most important things you can maintain in order to have a healthy body. There are a lot of things you can do to make sure your heart remains healthy, even if the heart seems like nothing more than a small, abstract object hidden inside your body. A big part of keeping your heart healthy is eating right - but not just eating right in general; you have to eat heart-healthy foods. Among the foods that can help your heart remain healthy are salmon, which can keep abnormal blood clotting from occurring, and leafy green vegetables, which decrease calcification in the arteries. Apples can be very good for preventing blood clotting also, and almonds can actually help to regulate the heart rhythm. If you want to lower cholesterol, eat oats and drink green tea; in fact, green tea can also relax the arteries. Take the time to learn what comprises a heart-healthy diet, and you will find that your heart and your body are functioning at a more optimal level. You can also help your cardiovascular system by taking a variety of specific supplements. Add Omega-3 essential fatty acids to your diet if you want to reduce inflammation in your blood vessels. While you can find Omega-3 essential fatty acids in some foods, there are also supplements that provide you with the necessary amount each day. Two other important supplements that can aid your heart are magnesium and Vitamin B6. The first steps of improving your heart's health - even before you can improve it in other ways - is learning the foods and supplements that will help you. Once you begin to learn what these foods and supplements are, you will be firmly on the path to a healthy heart.

Two recommended exercise videos

Many people like to get in shape before they go to the gym, which is why exercise videos can be really good for you. You can get in shape in your own home at a fraction of a cost. This makes a great option if you are self motivated and want to get in shape. You might find that you never needed to go to the gym in the first place. Make sure you don't overdue it the first time, or you will be quite sore. Stop when you need a break, the goal is to build up. This video will kick you in the butt and get you moving. If you are looking for something a bit sassier you could consider the Zumba Fitness Total body Transformation System DVD. With this series you will dance your way to a thinner fitter you. This is a great amount of fun, if you don't mind looking like a fool until you get the hang of it. It doesn’t take long to break into a sweat from the energetic movement. A lot of people attend live zumba sessions and have a bunch of fun doing it. You can get an amazing workout and learn some great dance moves to boot. These are only two options of many videos, but they are well worth the money. I love these two because of their intensity and ability to get you moving. Don’t be afraid to try out a new exercise video it is well worth your time to do so.

A Look At Alternatives To Drinking Coffee
Some people will tell you that coffee is not bad for you at all, while other reports will try to make it seem as though coffee is absolutely awful; while there is no definitive resolution on this issue, one thing that is true is the fact that caffeine turns glucose (that is, sugar) into fat - and what's more, the sugar and cream you probably add to your coffee will not do a whole lot for your figure either - and this reason alone (along with the fact that it is not great to be addicted to anything in the first place!) often leads people to look for alternatives to coffee. Tea is a commonly-chosen alternative to coffee, and while tea does have caffeine in it, the caffeine content is much lower - and what's more, you will probably not have to add sugar and cream to your tea in order to enjoy it; tea is also a powerful antioxidant - which means it will help your body to fight off diseases, and will help to lower your stress level and improve your quality of life as a whole. Yerba Mate is another drink worth looking at - and even though this drink is often thought of as a type of "tea," it is actually derived from a shrub that grows in South America; this might sound as though it would be disgusting (and some certainly acknowledge that Yerba Mate is an acquired taste), but some people find that they truly enjoy the taste - and even more than that, they enjoy the benefits of drinking something that gives them energy without giving them too much caffeine. And finally, you should know that it is possible to derive plenty of energy from the juice of fruits and veggies; of course, you will want to make sure you are drinking only drinks made from 100% juice - and even these drinks will not give you the sort of kick you get from caffeine - but this is a healthy way to keep up your energy when you are trying to veer away from coffee. It is not easy for everyone to kick the coffee habit - but once you start finding good replacements for coffee, it will become a whole lot easier; and if you are looking for good replacements for coffee, these three options are worth looking into!

Tips For Using Swimming To Get In Shape
One of the best full-body workouts you can engage in is swimming, as swimming will allow you to take care of a number of areas of your body at once, without putting your body in a position where it is experiencing problems with joints, muscles, and bones, and if you have a swimming pool of your own, it will be easy for you to take up this workout. Of course, if you do not have a swimming pool of your own at your house, taking up swimming as a workout can be a bit more difficult, but one thing you can consider doing is joining a gym that has a pool, or even checking your local YMCA to see if they have a pool you can use! Consistancy will be one of the biggest keys of all when you are wanting to use swimming to get in shape, which is the primary reason why having a pool of your own will be especially helpful; instead of simply swimming a few days a week – whenever you have time – make it a point to swim at least 6 days a week, as this will put you in a position where you can swim a moderate amount each time you go into the pool, instead of having to swim a whole bunch at once to get the results you desire. As best as you can, you should try to have a swimming technique that is smooth and effortless, as this will put your body in a position where it will naturally work itself out in the water, instead of putting your body in position where it is dealing with stress and tension; furthermore, you should vary the swimming strokes you are using, and this will enable you to work out different muscles with different types of strokes, which of course will go a long way in making your swimming workout effective. If you have a pool in your backyard, you should have no problem swimming on a daily basis, but it should not be too difficult to find a pool you can use even if you do not have a pool at your house, and once you do, you'll be able to give your body a complete workout that is fun, effective, and not too hard on your body!
Tips For Ramping Up The Web Presence Of Your Business
Mind is AllIt used to be that you could run a good business by simply producing a good product and treating your customers with respect, but nowadays - with the Internet being what it is - there is a lot more to running a successful business, and while you might be nostalgic about the "good old days," the truth of the matter is that you need to understand how to adapt to the changes brought on by the Internet if you want to continue to experience the success you hope to experience. The first thing you need to do in order to take advantage of all the Internet has to offer is understand how to optimize your website for search engines; when you learn how to target certain keywords, use meta tags to your advantage, and gather backlinks, you will be able to watch your rankings in the search engines climb, and this will bring new visitors your way as they come across your page through the searches they put into these search engines. Of course, ramping up the web presence of your business is not all about the impersonal things you do to boost your search engine rankings, as it will also be good for you to do what you can to build interaction and relationships with your customers; you can do this by using such social media sites as Twitter and facebook, giving your customers direct access to you and all the thoughts that make their way through your head! And not only will you want to use search engine optimization to rise in search engine rankings and use social media to connect with your customers, but you should also try to build relationships with other businesses; this can be a difficult jump to make, as you will often be used to thinking about other businesses as competition, but when you join forces with another business, the two of you can work to grow your businesses through one another! As you focus on ramping up the web presence of your business more and more, the more success you will have - and the more success you have, the more you will be able to continue competing in the ever-changing business landscape!

Building A Base Tan To Protect From The Sun
Americans have started to do a good job of understanding the risks of skin cancer that result from too much exposure to the sun, but one thing that is also important to remember is the fact that the sun is beneficial for our bodies as well, as it provides us with vitamin D, which will boost the immune system, promote health, and contribute to elevated moods; one way to protect yourself from harmful UV rays that will increase your risk to skin cancer is to make sure you consistently apply sunscreen, but this requires you to constantly be aware of whether or not you have on sunscreen. The other approach for protecting yourself from the sun's harmful UV rays is to build up a base tan that will keep your skin safer when you are in the sun, and there are a few easy ways to make sure you are doing exactly that. You need to make sure you avoid getting sunburned if you want to build that base tan that will keep you safe in the sun (and of course, avoiding sunburns will also keep you from putting yourself at heightened risk of skin cancer) - and this means that you should take a slow, steady approach to building a base tan; start by going into the sun only a little bit at a time (no more than 20 to 30 minutes of exposure at a time - less if you have fair skin), and during this time, make sure you are still applying sunscreen. As you begin to build a bit of a tan, you will be ready to cut back the SPF on your sunscreen, and you will be ready to increase the amount of time you are spending in the sun; by doing this, you will be able to witness your tan growing darker and darker, and the darker your tan becomes, the safer you will be when you are out in the sun. Whenever you are going to be spending a long day out in the sun, you will still want to apply sunscreen - even if you have a thick base tan - but you can use a lower SPF if you already have a good base tan in place, and in this way, the tan will continue to darken, while you will continue to get that vitamin D you need and keep your skin safe all at the same time.
Keeping Yourself Healthy Through Stretching
Mind is AllOne of the most important things you can make sure you are doing, in your day-to-day life, is taking care of your body, but in spite of the fact that most people are aware of this, the sad truth is that many people still neglect to do this; of course, there are many things that go into “taking care of your body,” but one of the simplest ways you can do this is by making sure you stretch on a regular basis. The first stretching you should do is in the morning, shortly after you wake up; it can be difficult to get up and get your blood flowing in the morning, but when you take just a bit of time to do some light stretching at the start of the day, you will find that you actually wake up a lot more quickly, and that you have an easier time launching into your day. Another thing that a lot of people find is that they have what is called a “2:30 feeling” in the afternoon, where they experience a sort of crash shortly after lunch; while you could take an afternoon nap if you lived in Italy or in some Latin countries (and while you cannot really do that in the States!), you can at least do a bit of invigorating stretching in your office or at your desk in the early afternoon to boost your energy once again. And a lot of people also discover that they have a hard time unwinding at the end of their day, which puts them in a position where they lie in bed for hours waiting for sleep to come to them; rather than taking some sort of supplement to make your fall asleep, consider doing a bit of stretching as you get ready for bed, and watch as this relaxation washes over you and helps you fall asleep. “Staying healthy” truly is a complicated process that involves a whole lot of different things – but by simply adding a bit of stretching to your schedule three times a day, staying healthy will become that much easier.

Should You Take Calcium Supplements?
Most of us are aware that calcium builds bones and teeth, but are calcium supplements important? This simple primer will help you determine if you are getting enough calcium and how to get the adequate amount. Why do you need calcium? Calcium is essential for building healthy bones, teeth, and proper heart and muscle function. It's important to feed your body calcium each day since your body takes calcium from your calcium bank--teeth and bones--and then replenishes that calcium bank with whatever calcium you've taken in that day. If you don’t consume enough calcium, your bones and teeth become depleted, which causes weakness. You need to keep your calcium intake up to protect your teeth and bones. What should you do to get enough calcium? Dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, ice milk), salmon, sardines, and shrimp are all excellent sources of calcium. There is a lot of calcium available in leafy greens and soybean products, but some people are wary of these two sources because of the presence of oxalate, which might drain calcium from the body. How much calcium do you need in a day? Kids need at least 400 mg, teens and adults need at least 800 mg, and pregant and lactating moms need at least 1200 mg a day. If you are an adult female, you will benefit from taking 1500 mg a day. Should you take calcium supplements? Most adult females don't get enough calcium from their diets, and they are most vulnerable to osteoporosis, also called brittle bones. Vegans will definitely want to take calcium supplements since they don't eat fish or dairy products. Most doctors recommend calcium citrate supplements since they don't contain lead and are easily absorbed. Take three 500 mg tablets a day, one with each meal, since your body can only absorb 500 mg at a time. You'll want to take vitamin D to help your body absorb as much calcium as possible. Calcium supplements ensure strong bones and teeth, which means a strong you!
An Easy Way to Monitor Blood Pressure at Home
Mind is AllBlood pressure monitoring is something that is recommended by many people in health services industries. Those who recommend it are in a variety of fields, form physicians assistant to diabetes educators to physicians themselves. A variety of different reasons are at the core of their agreement that home blood pressure monitoring is essential. A monitor that is easy to use and accurate is essential to help monitor your blood pressure at home if you are going to start. This is where the Omron DLX Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor comes in to potentially save your life. Professionals recommend monitoring blood pressure at home for one big reason and that is they are then provided with more information to work with. They have a better chance at diagnosing a problem when they are provided with more information. Only blood pressure monitoring at home can find many hypertension problems that may come up. These different types of hypertension include morning, masked, and white coat. Different times of the day that you will usually not be visiting a doctor are what these three different kinds of hypertension have in common. White coat hypertension means that your blood pressure reads higher at your physician’s office than it does at home. The type of hypertension that signifies lower readings in your doctor office than they are at home is called masked. Morning hypertension simply means that your blood pressure is higher when you wake in the morning. Your blood pressure should be monitored at home for many more reasons than just these three. In addition to these hypertension issues, there are many other factors that can contribute to a fluctuating reading. Serious health complications can result if you leave yourself unchecked. Monitor your blood pressure at home and document the readings. You will then be able to provide your doctor with a complete picture of your blood pressure. It will then be possible for your doctor to tailor a specific plan based on your needs.

Preventing Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (commonly called "SIDS"), is one of the worst tragedies that can befall a parent, and it is made all the worse by the fact that it often comes with no explanation. But while there are many factors outside of one's control when it comes to the things that cause SIDS, there are also a few specific things that elevate the risk of SIDS. You can decrease the risk of your baby falling prey to SIDS if you know what these things are and know how to avoid them. Smoking, drinking, and drug use during pregnancy are not only bad for your baby's health down the road, but might even be immediately fatal. Studies have found that babies are at a much higher risk of SIDS when their mothers smoked, drank, or did drugs while pregnant. Of course, you would be best cutting these things out of your life altogehter - for both your own health and the health of those around you. But even if you do not do so, you need to cut these out of your life while you are pregnant. Your baby's risk of SIDS not only escalates with your own smoking, but it also escalates when those around you smoke. Babies who have been exposed to smoke following birth have been shown to be much more susceptible to SIDS. On top of these specific areas that pertain to smoking, drinking, and drug usage, there are some specific things you can do yourself to lessen the risk of your baby falling prey to SIDS. One thing you should do is make sure you have optimal prenatal care, as poor prenatal care has been shown to be a contributing factor to SIDS. Two more contributing factors to SIDS - each of which is easy to avoid - are stomach sleeping and overheating.
Eating A Healthy Breakfast On The Go
Mind is AllAll of us have heard people say that the most important meal of the day is breakfast, but despite this assertion, many of us are simply "too busy" to make sure we get a healthy breakfast in us. But if you want to reach your optimum level of health, it will be important that you make sure to eat something at the start of the day - and even if you are "too busy," there are a lot of options for eating a healthy breakfast on the go. If you are going to be eating your breakfast on the go, you will need food that you can take with you in the car or on the subway - but this does not just mean you have to bring a bagel or a muffin along! One of the best ways to get your body going at the start of the day is by eating fruit, as it is healthy for you and will start you off with the energy that is necessary for moving forward in your day. You can also take the time at night to prepare food that will be both healthy and easy to bring with you, such as breakfast sandwiches (using regular toast, or using something like a bagel or an english muffin) or hard-boiled eggs. A lot of people also have leftovers from their dinners, but they do not think of these as "breakfast foods," and so they leave these leftovers in the refrigerator and end up skipping breakfast altogether - but dinner leftovers are often a great thing to bring with you for breakfast! When you finish dinner, load some of the leftover food in a tupperware, and the next morning you will have something that is easy to bring with you and either heat up when you get to work or eat cold on your way in! You can already distinguish between "healthy" foods and "unhealthy" foods without any help; now, you just need to make sure you are making the effort to bring some of these "healthy" foods with you so you can start your day off the right way!

The Truth About High Fiber Diets
Many weight loss programs have touted the idea that a high fiber diet will result in weight loss, regardless of portion control and calorie counting. This high fiber weight loss plan assumes you will feel satiated and stop eating once your belly is distended enough from all that fiber. These programs are also trusting the impact of fiber on unhealthy food consumption, which in part is understandable, since fiber does counteract high sugar foods to one degree or another. It's true that fiber is excellent for you, especially if you're trying to lose weight. It cleans out your colon, which is good for your overall digestive system. It also does what it is reputed to do, which is make you feel satisfied and full. Fiber helps your body handle high sugar foods without causing super high blood sugar level spikes, which cause your body to release insulin. Fiber, when eaten with high sugar foods, will reduce your blood sugar level, meaning your body will make less insulin, and your steady blood sugar level will result in fewer cravings. But can you rely on a high fiber diet to help you lose weight? While fiber is filling and does indeed promote regularity, your stomach will stretch to accept more and more bulk, making it possible for you to eat even more over time. So while it does help you feel full, your capacity to eat more will increase along with your high fiber intake. Eating a high fiber diet also doesn't stop you from packing in the calories through calorie-dense foods such as icing, custard, and ice cream. The bottom line is you can't rely on a high fiber diet to make you lose weight. The healthy solution? Fill your daily menu with high fiber foods, but pay attention to your other foods choices as well. Use portion control, count calories, and get daily exercise, limiting high calorie foods and relying on calorie-control and exercise to shed pounds.
Tips For Cutting Out Coffee
Mind is AllPeople sometimes jokingly say that coffee is the most widely available drug, but even though this is said as a joke, the truth is, coffee is a stimulant much along the lines of a drug; of course, coffee does not have the adverse effects on the body that most drugs have, but if you try to quit drinking coffee, you are likely to find that the withdrawal symptoms you will experience can certainly feel like you are quitting something much harder than coffee - and for this reason, it will be important that you know a few things you can try in order to wean yourself off coffee if you have decided that this will be a good move for you. When it comes to cutting out coffee, one of the best things you can try is slowly scaling back on the coffee you drink; if you slowly cut back on your coffee intake, you will eventually get to a place where it is no longer necessary for you to have coffee in order to function, so start by figuring out how many milligrams of caffeine you typically consume in a day, and then try cutting back 20% of this original level every week until you are no longer dependent on coffee. You should also realize that there are lots of alternatives to drinking coffee, but some are actually worse than coffee for your body; rather than switching to energy drinks that are packed with sugar and other unnatural ingredients, start eating some "energy foods" that will help to replace the energy in your body that your body has been used to getting from coffee. And quite frankly, water is the one thing your body needs more than anything else, and you can help your body make the transition away from coffee by giving it as much water as you can as you cut back on the coffee; water will make it less likely that you will end up having those awful caffeine headaches, and will also help to give you plenty of natural energy. Although your body will not get ruined by coffee in the same way it would get ruined by a drug, it is certainly nice to be able to have coffee as a treat instead of being dependent on it, and when you follow these tips, you will be that much closer to being able to cut coffee out of your needs completely.

How To Eat Healthy While Traveling For Work
When you are traveling for work, one of the most difficult things can be the fact that it is tough to find healthy food; after all, most restaurants are not especially healthy, and if you are busy during your work week, you could end up stuck eating fast food all throughout your trip! Regardless of whether you are going to be traveling for a couple days or a couple weeks, it is important that you continue to eat healthy during your trip - and there are a few specific things you can keep in mind in order to make this desire a reality. Firstly, you need to keep in mind the fact that breakfast truly is the most important meal of the day, and when you can start out your day with a healthy breakfast, you will be in much better shape moving forward; in order to get this healthy breakfast, you can stock your hotel room with fruit and juice that you can drink before the workday begins. You should also bring plenty of granola bars (or similar foods - such as granola or trail mix) with you on your trip, as these will be great for you to munch on in between your healthy breakfast and your lunch break - giving you energy and sustenance without putting bad things into your body. It might take you a bit longer to do lunch if you want to eat healthy (as you will need to avoid fast food), but do some research to find delis or other healthy eating spots around the place where you will be working, and make time to visit these places during your lunch break. And you should try to eat something light and healthy when it comes to dinnertime; rather than going for the steak and potatoes at a restaurant, consider getting a chicken salad or a hearty soup, and in this way you will be able to round out your day of healthy eating - despite being stuck traveling away from home!
Recipes for Delicious Protein Recovery Drinks
Mind is All
Have you upped your workout game, and realize you need to be drinking protein recovery drinks after your harder workouts? Your body is screaming for nutrients after resistance training routines or cardio; drink this to fuel your body. You may want to stock up on premade protein recovery drinks for when you workout at the gym or away from home, but these drinks can be whipped up in your kitchen blender. If you love chocolate and bananas, try this winner. This is a perfect blend of one full scoop chocolate protein powder, one cup of milk, one small banana, and one quarter cup chocolate ice cream. You’ll get protein, which aids your muscles in recovery, potassium, which prevents cramping, and just enough sugar and fat to fuel your body for the rest of your day. You don’t want to be so worn out by your weight lifting routine that you can’t handle your day without a nap! If you can't stomach drinking that many calories after a workout, blend up the strawberry dream recovery drink. Blend one scoop of vanilla protein powder, a half cup of frozen strawberries, and a cup of Trop 50 juice (half the calories). Slurp down that frosty, sweet-yet-low-cal protein drink, complete with vitamin C and protein. Choose a low sugar protein powder for this recovery drink. For a jet pack caffeine jolt, make yourself the mocha recovery drink. Combine a couple tablespoons of expresso powder (or instant coffee), a cup of milk, a scoop of chocolate protein powder, and ice chips. If you like a thicker, creamier drink, add in a cup of Greek yogurt (it comes in chocolate)--this will add another big dollop of protein. Stock up on protein powder, worrying more about ingredients than how they taste. You can always add in yummy ingredients that will blend well with the powder that delivers the best ingredients.

Making Your Breakfast Healthier
They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and this is true for two reasons: Firstly, it is true because, when it comes time for breakfast, you have been sleeping all night and will literally be "breaking a fast"; Secondly, it is true because your breakfast foods will be the foods you are starting your day with! While many people are "too busy" to eat breakfast (which is certainly a bad thing), many others are "too busy" to eat a healthy breakfast (which is nearly as bad!). Even though you are likely busy most of the time, you should not start your day eating something like a doughnut or a pastry; because you have not eaten in a while, your body will store the fat from these foods, and furthermore, these foods provide you with nothing but empty calories! Oats are a great food to start your day with, as oats give you energy and are also good for your body; oatmeal is, of course, a great way to get oats at the start of the day, but if you do not like oatmeal, try eating an oat bar or a bowl of cereal.
Yogurt is another great food to start your day with; rather than purchasing sugar-filled yogurt that is really nothing more than a dessert, however, take the time to shop for some organic yogurt that is actually healthy, as this will be a great way for you to start the morning! Of course, fruit is a tremendous choice for breakfast, and like most of these other foods, fruit is easy to bring with you on the road - which means you can eat it even if you are "too busy" to make yourself breakfast! Once you begin to kick off your morning with these foods, you will feel a big difference in your energy throughout the day, and your body will start to be much healthier than it had been before!
Tips For Waking Up On Time
Mind is AllSome people find that waking up on time every single morning is no problem at all, no matter how late they went to bed the night before (sometimes even waking up on time every morning without setting an alarm!), but while it is painfully true that not everyone is a "morning person" such as those individuals who have no problem getting up on time each morning, it is also true that there are a few things that even those non-morning persons can do to help themselves wake up on time! If you sometimes have a problem with waking up on time, realizing that it all begins with going to sleep on time; if you have a hard time going to sleep on time, realize that you need to change your body's pattern, and rather than doing this by taking a sleeping pill (or something else that will make you drowsy the next day), try forcing yourself to get less sleep than you need one weekend, and see how much easier this makes it for you to go to bed on time that Sunday night! Another thing that will help you is understanding that a lot of people feel tired in the morning because their alarm clock ends up waking them when they are at their deepest point of sleep; in order to prevent this happening to you, think about using a sleep cycle alarm clock, which will wake you up when you are at your lightest point of sleep! Another thing that will help you get up on time is having something you look forward to doing in the morning; instead of waking up and starting to get ready for work immediately, wake up even a little bit earlier and spend some time reading, or drinking coffee in relaxed silence, or doing yoga! It might still take you a while to switch to become a full-fledged "morning person," but when you take these steps, you will start finding that it is a whole lot easier for you to wake up on time, and to have the energy you need as you move into your day!

Is It Better To Eat Before Or After A Workout?
One of the biggest things that stands in the way of people when they are pursuing good health is that they do not fully understand all the nuances of staying healthy that they should, and because of this, they mess up in little areas that end up making a big difference - and while it might seem like a negligible issue, understanding when you should eat, in regards to your workout, is one of these things that can make a big difference! In order to understand whether eating before or after your exercise routine is better, you need to understand how your body works in regards to food and exercise: your body typically takes three to four hours to digest a large meal, two to three hours to digest a small meal, and about an hour to digest a light snack - so if you are eating before you exercise, keep these things in mind, or you will be short on energy (and high on cramps!) during your workout. It will also be important for you to realize that your metabolism will be working at its highest rate right after you have finished working out - which means that eating after a workout will help your body to burn fat and create energy much more quickly! When it comes right down to it, there is no hard and fast rule as to whether you should eat before or after a workout; quite simply, you should do whatever works best for your schedule (realizing that you are already on the right path if you are eating healthy, regular meals and are exercising regularly as well!). But make sure you understand the ways in which your body works - both in regards to how long it takes to digest meals of various sizes, and in how your metabolism works after a workout - and you will be much better equipped for making the right decision for you!
Tips For Living Healthy: Natural Foods!
Mind is AllThe desire to lead a healthy lifestyle is something that a lot of people have, but one problem a lot of people who have been chasing this goal end up with is that they do not quite understand what it means to lead a healthy lifestyle; one of the keys to leading a healthy lifestyle will be not only having the discipline to do so, but also understanding what it is you must do. A lot of people are under the impression that butter is not good for them, and because of this, they decide to replace butter with margarine or with other similar substitutes, rather than sticking with butter or using something such as oil in its place; while butter is not exactly great for you, however, it is far better than something that is chemically created such as margarine, so if you want that butter flavor, stick with butter rather than a chemical substitute! One thing a lot of people understand about being healthy is that it is better for them to eat lean meat – such as chicken, turkey, and fish – than to eat red meat such as hamburger or steak, but while this is certainly true, it is also true that organic meat is far healthier than non-organic meat; in fact, you would be better off eating organic red meat then non-organic lean meat – and of course, organic lean meat is even better for you than organic red meat! And finally, you might imagine that cutting out all sweets will be necessary in order for you to eat healthy, but while cutting out sweets would not be a bad thing to do, it is not entirely necessary; the main key is to watch what sweets you are eating, realizing that something such as dark chocolate is far better for you than sweets that are artificially colored and artificially sweetened. By keeping some of these tips in mind, it will start making it much easier for you to lead a healthy lifestyle, and to look better and feel better as a result.

Need Motivation to Take Up Biking?
Tips For Keeping Skin Clear
Mind is AllSome people consider clear skin to be about nothing but "looks," but clear skin is also an indication of how healthy your skin is - and when your skin is not clear, it is often an indication that your body is trying to notify you about something you should be doing differently. While some people labor under the idea that it is extremely difficult to keep their skin clear, it can actually be rather easy to make your skin look the way you want it to look - as long as you follow a few simple tips. Get enough water: When you do not get as much water as you should, the skin on your face (and even the skin on the rest of your body) will be much more likely to break out; every day, you should be making sure you drink at least one gallon of water - and while this sounds like a lot, it is only eight cups of water, which you should easily be able to get each day. Get enough sleep: The amount of sleep you get affects lots of different areas of your life, so while the way your skin looks might be the least of your worries when it comes to the side effects of not getting enough sleep, it is a good indication for you to recognize that you might need more shuteye at night. Use a honey mask: By putting a coating of honey on your face, you will have a honey mask, and while you will not need to do this every night, it is a great way for you to keep the skin on your face looking great, as it will effectively kill bacteria in your pores while also reducing redness and inflammation. While there are lots of different things for you to pay attention to when it comes to keeping your skin clear, by paying attention to these specific things, you will be able to keep yourself healthier in general while also keeping your skin as clear and beautiful as you want it to be!

Should You Try a Low Carb Diet?
Mind is All
Low carb diets are based upon the premise that you can lose weight by limiting carb consumption because carbohydrates are what trigger your body to release extra insulin, which is what makes your body store fat. This is something every diabetic knows: extra insulin production causes the body to store extra calories as fat. But will a low carb diet really amke you lose weight? Low carb diets are hailed for their immediacy since you probably will see results right away. If the results of low carb diets are so impressive, why are so many people still overweight? It's because low carb diets are tough to remain on, and also because most of these diets claim you can eat as much as you want without regard to portions. Your body craves carbohydrates because it needs them for energy, and your body doesn't want to convert fat and muscle to energy. And yes, your body will indeed take some of the fuel it needs for daily functioning from your muscles if you are on a low carb diet, especially if you don’t lift weights or perform other forms of muscle-building exercise. What part of this diet is worth holding onto? The diet highlights the fact that Americans tend to eat too many carbs, especially in the form of refined sugar and starches, so limiting carbs is a good idea—to a certain extent. However, your body needs carbohydrates if you are to perform well athletically, so a low or no carb diet will leave you feeling lethargic, which makes it difficult to fulfill the exercise part of your fitness plan. What is the healthy option? Limit your carbohydrate intake, eating complex carbs instead of simple carbs as much as possible. Beef up your protein intake, and increase your intake of healthy foods like leafy greens and other vegetables. Make sure your diet plan incorporates exercise, including resistance training, since you need to build muscles, not lose muscles. Pay attention to the following: portion control, calories, and quality of food, all in addition to exercise. You want to pursue diet and weight loss programs that are focused on long-term sustainability, but short term results.
