Do Your Teeth Frequently Hurt?
Mind is AllFor those who suffer from sensitivity in their teeth eating can be incredibly painful. A dentist should be consulted if you suffer from sensitive teeth to determine specifically why. There are many reasons tooth sensitivity may occur. Weak enamel is sometimes caused by genetics. This can be a factor in sensitivity. Gum recession causing the dentin of your tooth to show can be another reason for sentitive teeth. Age can also be a factor in tooth sensitivity along with cavities. There are toothpastes such as Sensodyne and Pronamel Sensitive that help to deal with sensitivity in teeth. Both of these pastes plug up little tubes that naturally occur in your teeth. If these toothpastes do work for you, great! Please understand though that you must continue using those toothpastes to remain less sensitive. Whitening toothpastes and hydrogen peroxide whitening can increase tooth sensitivity so please avoid these. When choosing a toothbrush make sure to choose a soft or ultra soft bristle toothbrush. If you brush your teeth with medium and hard bristle brushes you run the risk of wearing down the gums. This ultimately exposes the root dentin. The tops (enamel) of our teeth is very hard. Dentin is much softer in comparison. Sensitivity can be caused by brushing the dentin too hard and ultimately begin to wear the dentin down. The likelyhood of tooth sensitivity can be reduced simply from brushing your teeth correctly. Aim to brush your teeth with and bristles at a 45-degree angle to the teeth and gums. Small circular motions are favorable to back and forth motions. Circular motions reduce the damage to your gums and to the dentin. Electric toothbrushes can be a great option for you. Avoid mouthwashes that have high alcohol content in them. This can dry out the mouth and contribute further to already existing problems. Flossing is definitely a must also. Waxed or unwaxed doesn't matter, what matters is just doing it. It is very important to keep our teeth healthy and tooth sensitivity should be looked at seriously by a dental care professional. Although a toothpaste change may help, you should still get checked out to make sure you don't have a larger problem beginning.
