Have you upped your workout game, and realize you need to be drinking protein recovery drinks after your harder workouts? Your body is screaming for nutrients after resistance training routines or cardio; drink this to fuel your body. You may want to stock up on premade protein recovery drinks for when you workout at the gym or away from home, but these drinks can be whipped up in your kitchen blender.
One perrennial fav is the chocolate gorrilla recovery drink. Throw together a banana, a scoop of protein powder, and milk and ice cream to taste and texture preference. This drink delivers protein for muscle repair, potassium to soothe cramps, and calories to keep you going. You need the calories immediately after working out.
If you can't stomach drinking that many calories after a workout, blend up the strawberry dream recovery drink. Blend one scoop of vanilla protein powder, a half cup of frozen strawberries, and a cup of Trop 50 juice (half the calories). You’ll get an icy drink that still delivers your protein along with some valuable vitamin C, with fewer calories. Extra tip: try a low sugar protein powder for this one.
For a jet pack caffeine jolt, make yourself the mocha recovery drink. Blend up a cup of milk, two tablespoons of either instant coffee granules or a couple tablespoons of expresso powder, a scoop of protein powder (chocolate), and ice to taste. If you want to thicken it up and aren’t worried about calories, add in a cup of chocolate Greek yogurt, which has twice the protein of regular yogurt.
When choosing protein powders, look for protein content without worrying so much about taste. You can easily transform any protein powder into a delicious shake by usign the ingredients above.
