Keeping Your Heart Healthy
You probably had a teacher when you were a kid who told you to clench your fist and look at it. Once your fist was clenched, they informed you, "This is what size your heart is." While this exercise could still make you feel surprised to know just how small the heart is, you certainly would no longer be surprised by how important the heart is. Without the heart, the body receives no blood, and without blood the body cannot function. Because of this, a healthy heart is one of the most important things you can maintain in order to have a healthy body. The heart might seem like some abstract object tucked away inside your body, but actually, there are lots of tangible things you can do to keep your heart healthy. A big part of keeping your heart healthy is eating right - but not just eating right in general; you have to eat heart-healthy foods. If you want to decrease calcification in your arteries, eat leafy green vegetables; if you want to keep abnormal blood clotting from occurring, you should add salmon to your diet. Also, such fruits as apples are good for preventing blood clotting, and almonds are good for regulating the heart rhythm. Oats and green tea both help to lower cholesterol, and green tea can have the added benefit of relaxing your arteries. Take the time to learn what comprises a heart-healthy diet, and you will find that your heart and your body are functioning at a more optimal level. There are also many supplements that you can take to help your cardiovascular system. Omega-3 essential fatty acids are among these, as they are necessary for reducing inflammation in blood vessels. You can find Omega-3 essential fatty acids in certain foods, and you can find it in supplements that are made in order to provide you with this element. Two other important supplements that can aid your heart are magnesium and Vitamin B6. There is plenty that you can do to improve your heart's health and happiness, but the first steps begin with eating foods and adding supplements that will help your heart. By knowing what these foods and supplements are, you are well on your way to having a healthy heart.
