Looking for healthy Spring Break ideas that won’t break your budget? Are you envisioning a miserable Spring Break, with the kids sitting like zombies in front of the television? Give these fun Spring Break ideas a whirl and see if your family can't come up with some memorable experiences this year.

Enjoy time in your home sweet home. Maybe you had to stay home, but you can still act like you’re out of town. Take some time off work (or perhaps one of you can take off two days, and the other three days) and have fun with your schedule, staying up super late and sleeping in. Spend a day at the gym with your kids, swimming together or teaching them how to use the equipment. Set up sleeping bags and have a family movie/slumber party, or visit the tennis courts, or work in the yard together. Play RISK all night or invest in good paints and see who is the best artist.

Pretend you are a tourist in your own city. Compile a list of options around town and have the family decide together what you want to do each day. Try walking through your downtown as if you've never been there, checking out little shops, or visiting a local museum or farm.

Work together with another family. Is your best friend’s family also staying home this Spring Break? Organize sleepovers at each other’s houses. Set up a schedule so different adults take time with the kids to do fun activities. Combine heads to think up activities all the kids like to do and how to split up time and resources.

Set the kids loose in the kitchen. Give the kids healthy recipes to follow, and then spend time with them, teaching them cooking skills and explaining why your family makes the food choices they do. Talk about body image and how to care for your body through a healthy diet.

Spring Break doesn’t have to be expensive to be fun and healthy. Enjoy time with your family, building memories that will last.
