About triathlons

Mind is All
Have you ever wanted to compete in a triathlon but found yourself scared over whether you could go those distances? The iron man is a painful race but it is not the only triathlon you could consider doing. There are other shorter triathlons which are more geared towards different levels of expertise.

Generally speaking there are three typical levels of triathlons The largest of them and most brutal is the Iron Man which includes a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile ride on the bike, and a 26.2 mile run. The more traditional size is the olympic triathlon which consists of a .93 mile swim, a 24.8 mile bike ride, and a 6.2 mile run. The last size is called a sprint which is the smallest size and consists of a .47 mile swim, a 12.4 mile bike and a 3.1 mile run. In the United States sprints have begun to become incredibly popular.

The Triathletes Training Bible is a great way to start getting yourself geared up towards training for one. This book is considered one of the great books on the sport. It goes into great detail about training down to what your workout plan should be week to week. This is a great self coaching book to get you on the way to doing your first triathlon or fine tuning your routine if you are a triathlon veteran. Furthermore you can learn tips about the race day itself.

After you complete one triathlon you may just decide you wish to do another one, and progress to a longer one. One day you might find yourself to have become quite the athlete as well.
