About triathlons
Mind is AllHave you wanted to try a triathlon however found yourself scared of doing those distances? The iron man can be a painful race but it isn't the only triathlon you should look at. There are actually shorter triathlons that you can do to experience the fun. There are three main levels of distances for a triathlon. The most brutal and largest of them is the Iron Man which touts a 2.4 mile swim follwed by a 112 mile bike ride, and a full marathon at 26.2 miles. The next is the Olympic triathlon, which includes a .93 mile swim, a 24.8 mile bike ride and a 6.2 mile run. The final tri you are likely to run across is a sprint that contains a .47 mile swim, a 12.4 mile bike ride, and a 3.1 mile run. In the United States sprints have begun to become incredibly popular. If you are interested in training for one, a great reference manual for it is the Triathletes Training Bible. This book is considered one of the great books on the sport. This book goes into such great detail about training for a triathlon even down to what your workout plan should be week by week. It is a great self coaching book to get you on the way to completing your first triathlon. Furthermore you can learn tips about the race day itself. After you finish one triathlon you might just decide you want to try another or move up to a longer one. One day you might find yourself to have become quite the athlete as well.
