Stay Fit With Indoor Rock Climbing

Although there is no shortage of options for staying healthy and fit, it sometimes seems as though there is a shortage of options that are also not dull! After all, you can only walk around your neighborhood or run on a treadmill so many times before you need to start looking for something new. Rock climbing is actually one of the best ways to stay in shape, and now that indoor rock climbing facilities are gaining traction, climbing has never been safer or easier!

Rock climbing uses all of your upper body muscles and also causes you to use your legs a significant amount, making it one of the best full-body workouts. And although rock climbing can be dangerous when done outdoors - esepcially when done without a harness or any serious padding beneath you - it can be a very safe activity at indoor rock climbing gyms.

Before you will be allowed to climb at most indoor rock climbing gyms, you must take a "top rope" course; this course will teach you how to belay for your partner - which means adding friction to the rope your partner is using while climbing, to keep them from falling far if they slip off the wall. The costs of indoor climbing are pretty minimal once you have the basics down, as most of these places allow you to climb whenever you want once you have paid a small monthly fee.

If you find that you enjoy climbing and want to start climbing regularly, you will want to invest in some climbing shoes and a chalk pouch. You can find good climbing shoes for a very reasonable price on Amazon, and you can also find chalk pouches for as little as $10. Clothes for rock climbing can probably be found in your closet as well - all you really need are some sturdy pants or shorts and an old shirt!

Once you climb long enough to get the hang of it, climbing can be as challenging or as easy as you want it to be! And you can get a true full-body workout with rock climbing, and by climbing indoors, you can have a fun, adventurous workout that is not dangerous at all!
